Spy and Computer tech etc don't actually max out at 35.

Spy and Computer tech etc don't actually max out at 35.

There was a problem in the shop with the technologies pack but it tis fixed now.

What is the purpose of maxing any of these things out? If a player is playing for records, once maxed, that record becomes unattainable. I don't understand the benefit to maxing any of the in-game items.

Well, there is the need in defining a maximum levels because there comes a moment when the required resources and the time for building/researching becomes too high that it is practically impossible to upgrade with 1 more level.

Prime,

From what i am seeing ingame tops players are already achieving mines maximum levels (Imperator & Bob)! So this can be one problem to the game if there is nothing more to evolve (my personal opinion - I far away from that macimum levels).

One question: If i research "Expedition Research" to level 35 implies 9 (original planets) + 17 (from expedition) summarizing one total of 26 planets?

I would like to purpose that after achieving max planets that cannot be occupied or stolen, players could colonize more planets with the risk losing them or being occupied and producing changing from the planet owner to conqueror player.

The maximum possible planets that a player can control is set to 15: 9 original planets + 6 from the Expedition research.

This suggestion about capturing planets is interesting but it could change the gameplay a lot and that's why it must be discussed beforehand. If there are more players that would like such a feature thin it could be considered as a future project but there are some things that have to be cleared:
- if there is a possibility to caputure other player's planets then most likely there must be added a special ship with this ability
- what will be the circumstances under which a planet will be able for capturing (for example the ships and defences must be destroyed first but maybe the buildings too?)
- this could lead to the faster colonization of the univers and the occupation of all planets. Also it could be too distracting if there are too many planets for which to take care

Other questions may arise too.

Prime, thanks for answering :).

Ships that permit conquering or capturing planets would be interesting. As you indicate capturing planets would probably change gameplay if not created with special conditions, for example:

a) Conquering Planets (Conqueror owns planet):
   -- Attacker conditions:
      - Ship Alpha (not good with names lol), to carrier soldiers;
      - Colonized first 15 planets;
      - New research: Conqueror (3 levels: enable conquering one planet)
      - Destroying All Defenses and Fleet orbiting planet.

  -- Defender conditions:
     - As colonized first 15 planets;

b)  Capturing Temporally Planets (Conqueror Just Receive Planet Producing):
   -- Attacker conditions:
      - Ship Alpha to carrier soldiers;
      - Colonized first 15 planets;
      - Expedition Research (level up to 16 planets);
      - Destroying Fleet orbiting planet;
      - Destroying all soldiers on the ground, and probably another new defense.

  -- Defender conditions:
     - Colonized first 15 planets;
     - All defenses not related not related with capturing planet should be inactive;
     
  -- Retaking Planet: Just player or alliance teammate.

 
I totally agree with you Prime when you say too many planets can be overwhelming to take care, but in old planets time of constructing ring after one or two years playing should be enormous so new planets could maintain focus of old players on the game.

i think that the ability to conquer planets could be interesting, but there is still work to be done on some mechanics that are already in the game.  something i think could be useful on that note would be a test universe. just a thought.

Lost in this conversation about taking over planets is the original issue. If you max out everything, the game becomes pointless for the players at the top. I know Bob personally, and he told me recently that he was playing for the records because he had very little else to play for. There is really no one for him to attack. Are you admins saying that you want him to stop playing? I don't see the sense in that either from a game mechanic or financially. You get to a certain point in the game, and that's it. If this game looses the ability to perpetually grow, then those at the top will become board, and stop playing it. I don't think that is good for the game, but if you do, please explain.

I hate to be petty ... but I can't help but notice that ResideSin has a level 42 robot factory (at least according to the records).  In light of the the fact that myself and Dartagn have had defenses and research reduced when the maximum glitch was discovered shouldn't he also be reduced.  Only if we are actually concerned with fairness.  Again I hate to be petty ... but it's only fair to the other players.
